Otis Fishing Report Note for October 16, 2023: So far, no Otis today on Brooks Falls, Brooks Falls Low, or Riffles cams, so no fish to count, Girl Gang detours, or ex-girlfriends’ scent on the bear trail. 😉

We’re not saying goodbye to the 2023 Bear Season yet — if any cams are on, there’s a chance to see Otis, and we strive to be here. 🙂 We mention it because we have some gratitude to impart, and that often sounds like “the end.” But it’s not! 😀

We’re sending our heartfelt gratitude to… Explore.org and CamOps, without whom we wouldn’t have ever known Otis. Mods for letting our uber-long posts stand. Every GIF-er for capturing GIF-able moments for us to share. To Rangers and Katmai National for sharing your bears with us. And to DJ of Nature (Charlie Annenberg, for those of you unfamiliar) for popping in now and again to share a kind word and for bringing us these incredible views of bears and their wonderful environment. Without ALL of you, the Otis Fishing Report could not be, literally. So, thank you so very much! ♥

And our gratitude to you, Chatters for your never-ending appreciation that keeps us going past our snoozles time, whether our work days are long or short, difficult or easy. Without your encouragement, there would be no Otis Fishing Report. So thank you too, so very much! If we’ve ever missed replying to your tag or comment (here or the website), please accept our apology — it was not our intention! ♥ (And a side note, thank you for not pointing out our typos and incorrect words, of which there were many…)

Special thanks to A.S. Your enduring support of anything I endeavor to do — and of me — means the world. ♥♥♥

We hope to see Otis again soon, and until then Wishes for Fishes for Otis and all the bears — the wiggling kind like Summertime Otis has here in this GIF captured by SuspectCelery! ♥ Sweet Salmony Snoozles, everyone!

  1. Thanks again for your dedication to your readers and to tracking the calories for our beloved Otis. It is reassuring for us worriers. I wish he would catch some live ones like Walker lately, but we must Trust in Otis .
I was wondering if you have archived reports from this season bc I only discovered your brilliance in the last half.
Also, you can see bears on DM…just saying.
    Thanks again

    1. Aw, thank you, Kaz! I’m glad you’re enjoying the Fishing Reports! 🙂

All of the 2023 Reports are here on the website. At the bottom of the page, there are numbers to scroll prior pages of posts. If it’s easier, you can look at the site map to find older posts. 🙂

  2. While you’re handing out “thank you’s”, please save a BIG one for yourself from all of us, your fans! I am so appreciative of your reports that have brought Otis closer to us and which are written with encouragement, love and humor.
Thank you for spending so many hours to keep us informed of Otis’ daily routine; I, for one, will revisit your archive of reports regularly when I feel the longing for an Otis sighting. Nature, have a wonderful winter and Wishes for Fishes!

  3. I just wanted to thank you for creating these incredibly informative and very entertaining posts about Otis! I just discovered the bears this year and the first one I took note of was Otis because of how skinny he looked. I had no idea about his story but now I am hooked, nay, obsessed!

Anywho… your posts are one of the highlights of my day, along with my first cup of coffee.

    Thanks!
