Otis Special Report for October 14, 2023: We’re posting this morning to encourage you to donate to The Otis Fund for the Katmai Conservancy, as today is the last day for the generous Explore.org match of up to $300,000 in donations. ♥ We’re so close to that $300,000! As of this writing, $252,936 has been donated!

For our written musings, Otis is the Reason for the Season, but for Katmai National Park, the bears, the salmon, the wolves, and so much more, The Otis FUND is a big part of the reason we have a Katmai to view in the first place. Without the Park, Explore doesn’t have cameras installed, or CamOps, this chat, or… Otis coming into your home or workplace (don’t worry, we won’t tell your boss what you’re doing!).

To learn how your donation impacts the Conservancy, read their 2022 Annual Report.

Then click go to the Katmai Conservancy Otis Fund donation page and smash that big ol’ DONATE button. Today. Because, again, today is the last day for Explore’s donation match, so your contribution is twice as nice and has double the impact. 😀 If you make that donation today.

And if you’re unable to donate, no worries at all! You can share on social media or with your friends. Every little bit helps. ♥

And and… on OtisFishingReport.com, some of you have asked how you can donate to us to help defray the cost of operating the website. In lieu of making donations to us, we would be happy for you to donate to the Conservancy. Today. 😉 ♥

And and and… Wishes for Fishes and a Bright Sunshiny Day to you (and the solar panels)! ♥

Because you click us to get your Otis Fix, here’s another look at Otis on October 11 running through the River toward Who Bear. Clearly, Otis is sporting the new Bear Jordans he picked up on Walkabout! Video by mckate on YouTube.

  1. Thanks for the “nudge”…I had forgotten to donate…did so today after reading your Special Report.

Thank YOU for all the time and effort you have put into tracking Otis’ food intake. I love that big old bear and your reports this year have brought me so much joy and so many smiles. You are a true gem with amazing writing skills…you bring all the action (and our angst) to life.

  2. Thanks for your post. I wish I could build a warm cozy den for Otis and provide him with a steady supply of salmon but that would not be the correct thing to do. We get to see the bears but not interfere in their life and that is the way it should be. I was able to donate today and I hope it helps a bit. Much appreciation for all the beautiful pictures and updates
