Otis Fishing Report

Otis Fishing Report for July 28, 2023
Just 20 minutes into the new day, Otis earns himself another Juicy Fish! And 20 minutes after that, another!

But hold onto your Jolly Roger, mate, there’s pirates lurking in the darkness of Brooks Falls! Otis out sniffs the pirate and then attempts to out run him! Otis runs so fast that even an upgraded cam can’t capture him and that prized Juicy Fish — both Otis and fish are just bluuuurrrrs not to be captured on film and, according to this BF snap, his pursuer morphs into smothing akin to a lion!

I know some folks will say “aw, poor OLD bear” and expect Otis to lose that fish to the ARRGGGH in some young whippersnapper, but Otis will have surprised that group of you AND the pirate. 😀 There was more weaving and bobbing and ducking and jumping, and, guess what? Otis ate that fish like he owned it, right here on BF!

After the Pirate Pirouette, Otis returns to his Office where it’s cool, dark, and fishy.

What word is it that describes both alert and zen? Zalert? Azen? (My wordsmithing may be broken tonight — I’ll get back to you on that.) Whatever word that is, it describes what Otis is during the Overnights. He’s primarily anchored in his Office and when there’s an Intruder Alert, he makes sure Wallflower’s Wall remains upright and intact. When the Intruder leaves, he slides to the right… Not quite a Cha Cha kinda slide, but a slide nonetheless. Rinse. Repeat.

Like so many nights, we lose sight of Otis in the dark, and while we can see the occasional glow of his eyes, it’s just not possible to confirm any overnight fish.

At 7:00 a.m. Katmai time, Otis is still Zalert in his Office in the quiet rain on BF.

It was a number of hours later, but Otis does fetch another fish and devours it without disruption.

He tries a couple other of his favorite fishing spots, and then heads for naps about 10:00 a.m. Katmai time. An hour and a half later, he returns to try his spots. Having no luck, a few hours later, he departs. Rinse. Repeat. (His theme this year?)

Nearing 6:00 p.m. Katmai time, Otis returns and spies 747 fishing. Taking note of 747’s largeness and in-chargeness, he knows 747 is a gifter of scraps. Otis chills at the Sandbar. 747 eats at the Napping Rock. As suspected, Otis the Wise One gets scraps — twice, in fact!

That brings us pretty close to the current hour (which is my bewitching hour), and so we will leave you here: Total fish count so far is 3 fish + 2 scraps.

More tomorrow and, in the meantime, wishes for fishes and salmony dreams! ♥
