Otis Fishing Report

Otis Fishing Report for August 9, 2023
OTIS IS A FISH-EATING MACHINE, Y’ALL.

Minutes into the new day, Otis reaches his paw into the water and –whoosh– out pops a fish, as only Otis can “out pop a fish.” And then another… and another… and another!! It’s going to be a good night for someone (and it ain’t the fish)!

It’s only 2:00 a.m., and he’s already high-grading and making note that some fish do not pass Old No. 7’s inspection standards. It’s hard work, and Otis needs a momentary break from it. He steps out of his Office, and heads to Alice’s Restaurant. Perhaps he’s thirsty for their special Salmon Latte or interested in today’s Sushi Special, yeah? Or maybe he just needs to use the restroom (um… yes… this one lol). He does a few yoga stretches on rocks, and then he returns to his Office.

Otis continues catching fish after fish after fish and about 3:00 a.m., he gets a friendly visitor. And now two bears are getting fish after fish after fish, including this fish (which was ginormous and DID pass inspection)!

It rains a little. He fishes a little. It rains a little more. He high-grades a little. He Nap Fishes a little. And then the fish are standing in line to be first in Otis’ belly — fish-fish-fish! And then he Nap Fishes once again.

Around 6:00 a.m., Otis leaves his Office for another stroll. My best guess — that he is going up the Far Path for naps — is wrong. Ha! He disappears from screens, but a sharp eye finds Otis standing on rocks as the cams pan. 😀 But not just any rocks. He appears to be on Alice’s Rock!

He takes a look around and then returns to his Office, as the splishity-splashity of salmon continues. Up the river, into Otis paws, into Otis belly, rinse repeat. (Whoever told the fish to “veer right,” your check is in the mail!)

Otis has got to be tired by now, but he carries on. The fish come for inspection, and he carries on. He’s had so many fish that he has salmon hiccups, but he carries on. (And I love the guy, but I gotta say that the idea of salmon hiccup breath is not all that appealing — from the look he’s giving us here, I’m not sure he’s enjoying that part either!)

At 12:15 p.m., he leaves his Offices. He pauses at the corner and ponder his catches. He burps (probably). He meanders to Alice’s. And following 19 hours and 10 minutes of fishing, what does Otis do? He stops to eat scraps. 😀

He heads for his Bank Bunk (much to the delight of chatters around the world) and takes a load (of salmon) off.
He seems to be fighting sleep like a 5-year-old, but eventually lies down for naps. When he wakes, he takes a long drink of water, and then returns to his naps.

And that brings us to now. Otis is fighting whether to fish or nap or both on the Far Bank, and we’ve tallied today’s tally. Total fish count (through right now) midnight to midnight for August 9, 2023 is 27 Fish + 3 High-Grades + 1 Scraps + 3 Sniffs. And tomorrow, we’ll tack on whatever he catches tonight through midnight.

Remember: The Road to Victory is Paved with Salmon! #FatBear2023 bwahahahah You read it here first folks! 😉

Wishes for fishes, everyone! ♥

P.S. If you’re looking for his August 8-9 fishing session numbers, you can find those here.
