Otis Fishing Report UPDATE for August 7, 2023
Minutes before 7:00 p.m. Katmai time, Otis appears at Wallflower’s Wall on Brooks Falls cam.

Given that his Office is otherwise occupied by an interloper, he heads toward Alice’s and then the Sandbar. Unfortunately, the Sandbar is serving neither juice nor sushi. He moves to sit behind the Jacuzzi a minute for an intel gathering mission. And decides he’s better served napping a while longer — he heads off a mere 20 minutes after his arrival.

Two hours later, Otis returns at the Platform just in time to be an interloper himself. Another floofy-eared bear is eating a fine looking salmon while a troop of Alice’s looks on. Otis approaches, the troop disperses, and Otis scores a snack leaning forward into the River as chatters and Platform visitors alike confirm that, yes, it’s a boy. 😉

His Office is empty this time around, and Otis heads in for the second shift of fish inspections. Thirty minutes in, we see a sploosh and an unexpected miss. Man, these fish are slippery this year! Ten minutes later, a sploosh and a FISH! Twenty minutes after that, another sploosh, another FISH! Otis takes it behind the curtain for fear of pirates (probably) on Brooks Falls cam.

Not two minutes later, another one! They may be slippery, but there aren’t many fish that are a match for the magic that is the Otis Fishing Machine! Our boy has somehow mastered being both Zen and Alert, and he’s working that magic tonight. As the fans are heard cheering across the lands, another 30 minutes, another FISH, and then back-to-back scores! At this point, Otis turns up the heat: He turns to continue fishing while finishing that second fish (the tiny silver spec) on Brooks Falls cam — taking bites and chewing while scanning the water! Love it!

It’s just before midnight Katmai time, and you know what that means — end of this day’s fish count. All in, the total Fish Count for August 7 is updated to 11 fish + 1 scrap.

Big THANK YOUs to everyone who tagged me in the Overnights, especially MamaPJ and SarahBear who included timestamps in their posts. 🙂

We’ll be back later with the August 8 report. In the meantime, wishes for fishes and fat bear bellies! ♥
