Otis Pre-Report

Otis Fishing Pre-Report for August 5, 2023
As previously noted, the Magic Fish Workbook counts from midnight to midnight, and we would typically save this post for later — but we know you are eager for that count! We just got done with the Overnights (there’s been a lot of jostling between Brooks, Brooks Low, and Riffles)!

About those Overnights… in 2021, it was super easy to just “sort of” pay attention and see the Otis Pixels. When that changed last year, we found that we could often see those pixels, but it requires one to stare at the screen non-stop, so as to not lose track of them. That was our morning mission today!

So as midnight strikes, Otis has gained access to his office. The Falls are quiet save the woosh of the water and the occasional chomping by nearby bear, and Otis is on the prowl for the fishy good taste of SALMON. Just 15 minutes into the new day his patience is rewarded… a big ol’ juicy FISH lands in his mouth on Brooks Falls cam!

About an hour later — now we’re essentially meditating to Otis Pixels — he’s got another! Twenty minutes… another!! Another 30 minutes, but… nah… those could be fake-out pixels. We hit pause and take a break. Another hour passes, and FISH! Ten minutes — FISH! Just before 3 a.m. Katmai time, the cam zooms (boy, are we grateful for THAT, camop!), and FISH, plus two more! The cam zooms out, and we’re meditating to Otis again — and see that telltale body language — FISH!! At this point, we are quite glad to be meditating!!

About 8:00 a.m., there’s an Intruder Alert, and Otis steps aside to the corner just past Wallflower’s Wall. We watch those pixels walk toward Alice’s, and then we lose them. As we cannot confirm which pixels belong to Otis, we pause counting until daylight, and we are rewarded with another FISH!

Otis has been fortunate to be in his Office the majority of today, and all in, up to about an hour ago, we are at an office fish count of 12 fish from midnight Katmai time to now. Now, if you’re not eager to count my pixel watching (which *will* be in the total season count), subtract 6. 🙂 And we’re talking in the range of 60,000 calories!

More later and wishes for fishes for everybear! ♥

Also, tonight’s post will feature some fun GIFs from today’s posts. 😀
