Otis Fishing Report

Otis Fishing Report for August 17, 2023
It’s a new day in Katmai, and for the fourth Groundhog Day in a row, Otis makes his first catch at 12:05 a.m.!

Otis is not content to sit in his Office today. He’s back and forth between the Boulder, Conveyor, the Jacuzzi, and his Office. He catches a few Boulder fish and continues making his rounds, sometimes out of Brooks Falls cam view.

He continues his circuit to get his steps in for the day and pauses here on Brooks Falls cam for a Bears of Brooks Falls Calendar shot.

And for Otis’ moodier fans, he offers this shot, also on Brooks Falls cam, but with the infrared lighting of Riffles shining on him.

Though it only lasts a few minutes, at one point Otis and Grazer switch Office and Conveyor in an amicable trading spaces sort of move. Then they agree to go back to their original positions.

The Boulder is a profitable spot for Otis this night. In fact, at one point, he catches one in his mouth while also catching one with his paw! As tonight’s plan is to take his catches back to his Office to dine, it would make sense that he releases the one in his paw and then carries the other tasty Fresh Catch back to his Office for a midnight(ish) snack.

Based on knowing almost nothing about fish (they swim; they taste good), these are bigger than big. Bigger than huge. Ginourmously big! So they must be the coho (silvers), yeah? Maybe? We are sure that it’s not just camera adding 10 pounds at Brooks Falls. 😉

And then 151 Walker comes in to join the fun. So Otis promptly leaves for naps (probably) at 8:40 a.m. Katmai time, and we’re not saying around, about, almost, or near a time because he returned promptly at 12:40 p.m., making for easy math. 😀 We’re thinking he was snoozling in his favorite spot behind the Platform to the delight of today’s visitors.

Upon returning, Otis sits for his standard intel gathering and then heads toward the Conveyor. He seems kinda “meh” about that choice and MaryM Otis 2016 thinks he’s considering walking away, when this happens, and he catches 2XL fish!

His last two fishing sessions, Otis has been wildly alert and — oh, gosh, should we say it? — fishing… Grazer style! Okay, not entirely, but kinda sorta. He’s been going back and forth between the Boulder and his Office, and when Walker popped into the Falls, he trotted (yes, trotted> over to Alice’s to eat his catch. He’s got himself new OOMPH today, we’re glad to see it!

So now it’s almost 3:00 p.m. in Katmai and Otis appears to be settling in for a snoozles in his Bank Bunk, so it’s a good breaking point to post. Total count from midnight to now is a generous serving of 34 Fish + 2 Scraps + 1 Sniff! There were a couple in the night he didn’t completely consume, but they were also not straight high-grades, so all counting as FISH today (except the Sniff).

Until tomorrow, sending wishes for fishes and fat bear bellies! ♥
