Otis Fishing Report UPDATE for August 15, 2023
After his midnight burst of fishery, Otis spends a good part of his day snoozling in his Bank Bunk, so of course we are required to show you that. 😉 He is the Most Adorable Snoozler, Otis is!

Between snoozles, SusyQTeamOtis480 snaps Otis grooming on Brooks Falls cam — we’ve never seen one of our bears grooming, and I recall this was a chatter’s question recently.

Otis awakes from his nap about 6:00 p.m. and… stands on rocks. 🙂 He steps down, and just to be sure we saw him, he climbs back up, climbs back down, and… goes back to bed again.

A short bit later, Otis awakes again and confers with the Alices.

He does his morning yoga and…

Eventually, he climbs out of his Bank Bunk and heads to the end of the Conveyor. On Riffles cam, we see he picks up a scrap along the way. His pals 747 and Walker snag simultaneous catches, and Otis could be a little bummed that he’s not also catching, but instead, he’s grateful for another scrap as 747 appears to be high-grading. He meanders a bit, and then settles in behind the Conveyor.

Just before 9:00 p.m., the Beary Go Round kicks into action. 747 leaves the Conveyor, and Otis shifts to that position. Then Walker leaves, and Otis takes up residence in his Office. 747 returns, and it’s like old times for the boys. Walker returns, and Otis cha chas between him and 747. 747 leaves, and Otis hits up the Conveyor. 747 returns… Otis accommodates and you know what multiple shuffles means… Otis heads up to his Bank Bunk for snoozles.

Just after 10:00 p.m., Otis awakes for his night shift and heads to his Office. Grazer (for sure) and Bucky (ear-based guess) are already hard at work. Together and in the Brooks Falls lighting, they appear to make up the Dark, White, and Milk Chocolate Falls Fish Factory.

ICYMI, even getting Grazered doesn’t stop Bucky from his appointed rounds, and if she and 856 don’t scare him, this boy’s got quite the future ahead of him!

A short bit after arrival, just as Brooks Falls cam is panning left, Otis pounces! We switch to Brooks Falls Low quick like the bunny that Grazer is, and FISH! At 10:30 p.m., Brooks Falls is still panning to catch all the bear action, and we catch a glimpse of FISH out of the corner of our eye! In anticipation, while Otis is still eating said fish, he turns his laser-focused eyes back to the water for more.

Meanwhile, 164 Bucky is frolicking between Otis and Grazer, with the occasional begging. Otis is mostly okay with that — he (probably) figures Grazer will handle him, if there’s trouble. But when Bucky’s frolic disturbs the fish, enough is enough! Otis tells Bucky in no uncertain terms to “GET OFF MY LAWN!” And then calmly continues fishing…

Just before midnight, Otis strikes again, for a total fish count of 33 Fish + 2 Scraps!

That’s it for now. We’ll begin Overnights at midnight and report back later. Wishes for fishes and a sunshiny day! ♥

  1. You guys do a wonderful job writing the daily on Otis! I’m learning alot by observing and
reading your updates and stats. It’s interesting and endearing to see how Otis preps his
bank bunk, grooms himself, confers and interacts with the other bears and fishes in his
favorite spot (his Office) every day/night. Your writing style is refreshing and delightful,
the way you project levity onto the survival routine(s) of the amazing brown bears. Otis
is particularly a good subject for that. Lol Thank you for keeping us informed on Otis’s
daily fish count so we don’t have to worry so much. His belly is getting fatter and no
    more ribs showing! hooray! 🙂
