Otis Fishing Report for August 19, 2023:
The usual suspects are caught on the overnights as midnight strikes at the Falls. Otis’ mood and pep are on the upside; fish are on the downside, however.
And since that was the case, we had time to wander and wonder… and we’ve made the determination that the most appropriate use of the term “Go Round” applies to 128 Grazer. 😀 She single-handedly is the Go Round portion of Overnights Program, if not also the Merry part for her fishful belly! Her circuit appears to follow the fish — into the Office, curve to the Wall of the Falls, down the Conveyor, Rinse, Repeat.
At two points in her circuit, Grazer goes head-to-head with Otis, and Otis says, “Uh, uh. Keep on truckin’, Babe.” And she continues her trek like a fish. 🙂
Don’t be envious though, Otis Fans. He has his own little circuit: Sit in his Office. Walk to the Boulder. Sit at the Boulder. Walk to his Office. Rinse. Repeat. Sometimes with a fish in his jaws!
Just before 6:30 a.m. and as seen on Riffles cam, Otis widens his berth and gives the Conveyor a try. As luck would have it, 164 Bucky sniffs around. He tells Otis “I wanna play!” and Otis says “GET OFF MY LAWN!” Bucky said “It’s cool, man. I’ma splash over then.”
Moments after this encounter, Grazer enters the chat, and the White, Dark, and Milk Chocolate Fish Factory is back in operation, with White Chocolate winning the moment at the I Love Lucy Conveyor Belt. 😉
At 9:00 a.m. on Riffles cam, we get an Office pounce and fish-eating body language. CamOps zoom, and we have confirmation of FISH!
There are fish here and there (but not everywhere, as 164 Bucky will attest), and things are pretty quiet. Otis hits up the Boulder, goes to his Office, Boulder, Office… 747 big bear-sized booty stops all things from passing the Conveyor. It’s a lovely afternoon like a picnic at the Falls!
Walker appears just before noon, and he wants that corner Office. Otis shifts to the Boulder. And THEN… 747 marches toward (not even into) the Office and Walker high-tails down river. And Otis returns to his Office.
While it was both fun and funny, 747 leaves, and then Walker returns. Otis takes up residence at Wallflower’s Wall a quick minute, and then decides it’s time for snoozles. He heads off at 11:46 a.m. Katmai time. He opts for the Bank Bunk this afternoon, and we’re glad to see it on Riffles cam in this GIF by SuspectCelery! We’re pretty sure people tuning into cams for the first time are wondering whether they clicked the Bears channel or the “Dog Bless Us” channel! 😉
Just before 2:00 p.m., Otis awakes! He stands up and looks around. And lies back down and rolls over like it’s Monday morning in the city — he hits the snoozles button again. We do know this is the fishing report, but when the lead fisherbear isn’t fishing… well… it becomes the Otis Napping Report, so just enjoy the show. 😉
So Otis flips over and we’re just enjoying watching a bear nap at the Falls along with some other 2000 people of our kind, and -bam- there’s Bucky bouncing through and distracting us(again!)! 😉 Down in the front, Bucky!
Otis is still napping, and we shall not poke the bear! Total count midnight to now is 9 Fish! We’ll add on night-fishing numbers in the morning, and until then, sending wishes for fishes and sweet salmony dreams! ♥
