Otis Fishing Report for September 21, 2023: Just before daybreak in Katmai, we spy the first view of Otis we can say without doubt is him. He’s entering the River from the Oxbow area. And then we confirm it’s Otis on screen in the sunlight about 7:45 a.m. Katmai time.
He’s off screen and on and back on again for a bit, snagging DOAs with his snaggle tooth(s) (there ARE two in there!), and pretty much every time we see him, he’s chewing.
He’s, literally, just nom nom nomming his way through the River and around the tall grasses, just like this GIF by SuspectCelery.
Otis is swirling and twirling and swimming around on and off camera, and then we go quite a bit without seeing him. At last he appears again — with food in his mouth, again and just the way we like him!
This is pretty much how the day went, and we’d love to have something exciting to tell you, but it was just a lovely, sunshiny, easy breezy day on the River with no muss, no fuss. We’re calling it now, because snoozles await, with a total fish count of 21 DOAs. We *will* note that we might have had pesky client work today and we might have missed a hit on Kat’s River View (but watched ALL of River Watch), so multiply that by your favorite single-digit number, and then that’s what Otis likely ate off cam!
We’ll tidy up the midnight-to-midnight count tomorrow, and until then Wishes for Fishes and Fat Bear DATES -> Fat Bear Junior is September 28 and 29 and Fat Bear Week is October 4 through 10. May The Fat Be With You! ♥
OH, BUT WAIT! There’s more…!
We do have that Bonus Content you didn’t know you needed: The Royal Family Jewels were on display at the Underwater Museum of Katmai for a limited time today. They called this work of art “Up Close and Personal with Otis.” 😉
Compliments to KATIE GRABER for the GIF!
