Otis Fishing Report for August 10, 2023
In midnight hour, Otis opens with a pounce and a miss, followed by a FISH, and 15 minutes later, another! A couple more pounces, and a couple more misses. Otis is looking lively this early morning! And then a catch and a toss — there was something fishy about that one!
And then we have a rare pounce-lunge-hold maneuver and this yields a HUGE fish! Otis enjoys this one from tip to tail!
He continues to pounce and fish, and then suddenly leaves for Alice’s and hits the Salmon Scrapple Buffet again. Considering there are plenty of fish and no competition, I have to honestly believe that Otis simply enjoys scraps and Meander Fishing. You know… like a hobby.
Minutes after 1:00 a.m., Otis climbs in his Bank Bunk and freshens up the linens with a little digging here and there. (Brooks Falls cam GIF by SuspectCelery)
And then he sleeps. ♥
A bear passes by closely and disturbs Otis’ sleep momentarily. Otis slumbers again. Another bear passes by… Otis slumbers again. (“Rinse, repeat” is Otis’ motto this summer, me thinks!) About 2:30 a.m., Otis wakes, stands, drinks, stands, digs… and sleeps again.
Just before 8:00 a.m., he awakens again. Stands up. Drinks. Heads to Alice’s (not that he has far to travel). And then to his Office once again. There are a few pounces and misses, and then his efforts are reward with one big ol’ fish… and another… and another.
After a while, 128 Grazer comes to fish. She hits up the Conveyor. She leaves Otis to his fishing. Otis catches another (huge, again!), and Grazer’s bodacious booty passes by again. Grazer leaves again. Otis catches again. Oh, heck — copy… paste! 😛
With Grazer at the Conveyor still, Otis exits stage left, and Grazer heads into his Office. A nice little respectful exchange, if we’re being honest. 😀

He crosses the River toward the Sandbar and picks up scraps along the way.
At 6:20 a.m., Otis leaves for naps on Brooks Falls cam on the Platform side of the River.
At 10:00 a.m., Otis appears at the Platform side bank — refreshed and ready to fish. He sits a minute for intel gathering. Not being much to gather, he heads to the Conveyor. Within 10 minutes of awakening, FISH! He gets 14 of them, one after the other. You’d think it was the taping of I Love Lucy’s chocolate factory conveyor belt, if not for the fact that it’s a bear and salmon! And the SIZE of them!
Just before noon, Otis is ready to meander. He heads to Alice for their now-famous Salmon Latte. He crawls into his Bank Bunk, and does a little butt-in-the-air Cha Cha Real Smooth move here, and then…
Otis snoozles. 🙂
About 1:30 p.m., Otis awakes. He gets a drink of water and thinks about fishing (probably). Like many of us awakening from a nap, what he does instead of fishing is puts his head down on a rock.
He sits and ponders life at Alice’s, then heads for the Conveyor. There’s an intruder who, foolishly, comes from the Office. So that’s okay with Otis — he heads to his Office. Look! He’s getting his Fat Bear look on!!
Otis does get a fish in the office, and then there’s an Intruder Alert. He puts up a lil fight and then heads to Alice’s for Salmon Scrapple buffet. Seeing none, he goes back to bed about 3:00 p.m. (okay, now, I would do this!)
And to make it a clean break for reporting purposes, I’m going to close now, with the fish count from midnight through the 3:00 p.m. nap at 22 Fish + 4 High-Grades + 2 Scraps + 1 Sniff!
