Otis Fishing Report for September 8, 2023: When last we saw him, Otis awoke from a nap, spied 151 Walker in his Office, strolled down Riffles, and was then seen Meander Fishing in the River. He then left for his Summer Walkabout on August 22, 2023. As reported earlier today, he was captured on Kat’s River View returning from said Walkabout — looking fat and fine, as the King of Katmai would. Oh, to be a bear, and meander the summer away while eating fresh Alaskan sockeye sushi!
Repeating, here Otis is returning on Kat’s River View cam. (See the Fat and Fine part?)
Shortly after his arrival, Otis shows off his iconic Old No. 7 on Kat’s River View.
Still on Kat’s River View, Otis heads under the bridge and toward Brooks Falls.
And then on River Watch, we get to see another of Otis’ personalities — Periscoping Otis!
We know Otis is Meander Fishing the evening away, but we lose him in the darkness. Keep in mind the River is vast, and cams only get so much of the gorgeous view (and bears).
And then just before 11:00 p.m. Katmai time, a sharp-eyed CamOp zooms into his Office, and BEHOLD! Otis is in his Office, like Walkabout never even happened. All hail, King Otis!
And for a closer view, here is that fat and fine Bears of Brooks Calendar Bear we’ve been seeking — look how CHONK our boy is!
A short bit later, 128 Grazer hops on in like the Energizer Bunny she is this year, waves and splashes at Otis, and goes off cam. And returns. And leaves. And returns. And… yeah… that thing Otis and Grazer do. 🙂
Otis is alert and serious about his Fish Inspections, but, alas, there are seemingly no fish passing through his Office tonight. He’s not deterred — he remains alert the entire time we see him — but ain’t no one catchin’ what ain’t swimmin’ by. As midnight draws near in Katmai, our boy carries on, while we flip the calendar to the next day’s fishing report.
Total Fish Count for September 8 is 0 Everything, with the reminder that the River is vast, the cams don’t catch everything, and Otis does enjoy a fine meal off cam and away from his stalker(s) once in a while. 😉 We’re *sure* Otis ate in the River yesterday… and we just didn’t see it.
So on to tomorrow’s count (errr… today lol), and still sending wishes for fishes to one and all! ♥
