Otis Fishing Report for July 27, 2023
In the Overnights, the bears are bear-ly discernable from the bugs, but it appears that there may just be a bear — a special bear — in the Office among those bugs. I paid for better vision, but I didn’t get the Superman Luxury Lenses, so I am only imagining that bear ate bunches of fish!
At about 3:30 a.m. Katmai time, the cam zooms in, and what do we spy? King Otis inspecting his fishdom. The history books don’t write about it, but it’s a favorite pastime of many kings, you know. 😉 (Snap is BF > Glowing Otis or… Glowtis)
As day breaks over beautiful Katmai and even though Otis may well have been there overnight, he is alert and actively fishing. Surprisingly and somewhat un-Otislike, he is… pacing a little bit against the back wall in search of the perfect breakfish (though any breakfish would do — perfection optional).
And about 15 minutes later, GOTCHA! Your guess is as good as mine as to why I didn’t snap that fish or the next one, but there ya have it; I did not. 🙂
On this slowfish day, Otis did as Otis does. He tried Alice’s, the J, the J Rock, Behind the J… and then decided it was time for naps about 8:15 a.m. Katmai time. Because a well-rested boar is a zen boar.
About 4 hours later, Otis arrives refreshed and re-zenned. Like a trusted Swiss watch, he makes his rounds. J, J Rock, Behind J, J, Office, Wallflower’s Spot, the J… (Snap is BF)
And then he’s off for naps again. Because why? A well-rested boar is a Zen boar. 🙂
Three hours later, Otis arrives refreshed and re-zenned… and tries his usual spots. This is one of my favorites — the J Rock (unofficial name) — captured by NYCSteve. Otis does really well here, and we get a good view of him and the fish and his surroundings. (GIF is BF)
And then, silly me, I went to get a drink of water after slaving over a hot keyboard all day, and Otis… disappears! With a bit of intel provided by LaurieNelson and videography by Cruiser, we discover that Otis really did not want these kids on his lawn today! And when I say “he’s got pep in his step” this year, I’m not just doing my usual sunshiny day thing, folks. Check this BF GIF by Cruiser out:
And now your Otis Fishing Reporter is kinda lost. I haven’t spied Otis since! But he always shows up, and we shall count his fish again tomorrow!
Summarizing, we counted 2 Fish on cams today — but again, these are not the only fish in all of Brooks, so keep that in mind, and remember that’s 10k calories, folks!
And a request… A Little Help From Otis’ Friends: I’m typically here all day — I do work, but have cams up and see most of the daytime action. But a girl’s gotta sleep!! If you see something unusual between 10 p.m. EDT (6 p.m. Katmai time) and 7 a.m. EDT (3 a.m. Katmai time), feel free to tag me! It will help me find things in the overnights — especially if they’re not on BF cam — and I’ll give you credit of course! 🙂 GIFS, videos, and snaps welcome!
Wishes for fishes and salmony dreams! More tomorrow! ♥
