Otis Fishing Report UPDATE for September 21, 2023: King Otis was Meandering Fishing in the Lower River last night when snoozles hit the Royal Fish Counter like a ton of bricks. He was off cam in that moment and then returned and then wandered off, strolled on, roamed off, ambled on… you get the idea. 🙂 Beautiful easy, breezy cool Alaskan day on the River — munching the munchies.
Although munching IS the priority this day, Otis always has time for his adoring fans, whether 4,000 miles away viewing via cam or on a nearby platform viewing live. Today, Otis is sporting this adorable Winter Ensemble made of salmon-scented bear fur paired with his best round, salmon-induced round fat face. (and we love to see it!)
Some of the Legends of Katmai continue to Snorkel Fish, Meander Fish, and snack on Two-Bite Salmon Bits, including 435 Holly shown her snorkeling by as Otis enjoys his day-old salmon DOAs.
During the overnights on River Watch, it’s hard to say whether we *actually* saw Otis or just wishfully thought we did. In any event, none of the would-be Otises were eating, so no harm, no foul to the fish count.
We did ‘catch’ a few more DOAs during that time we knew it was him in daylight, and so we’re totaling the midnight-to-midnight fish count for September 21 at 33 DOAs. Generally speaking, we’re seeing between 3 and 6 DOAs on cam before Otis wanders off, so our recommendation is to multiple our DOA count by a number between 3 and 6 — we figure he’s got to get at least that many on the other side of the little River island, yeah? 😀
We’re on and off just like Otis today and will do our best to catch up tonight. Until then, Wishes for Fishes and Sunshiny Days (to keep those cams chugging along)! ♥
